Calico aster is a perennial wildflower in the daisy family that blooms from late summer to fall. Its flower heads have a yellow center of disc flowers that change to a purplish red color as the bloom ages. Disc flowers are encircled by pale purple or white ray flowers. Calico aster can be found in fields and thickets, and is a nectar source for bees.
