Concolor fir is known for its blue needles, similar to that of many blue spruces. Although concolor fir originated in the Western U.S., it can grow well in Michigan. Under appropriate site conditions, concolor fir can grow 1 – 2 feet per year. It is best to avoid overly wet sites or frost pockets, as concolor fir tends to bud early, which can result in frost damage in those environments.
