Marsh blazing star is a perennial flowering plant that blooms stalks of fuzzy purple flowers. Marsh blazing star can be found in meadows, moist woodlands and marsh edges. Marsh blazing star attracts butterflies, bees, hummingbirds and seed eating birds, such as goldfinches. Its hollow, dead stems also provide nesting habitat for native bees. Additionally, marsh blazing star is a host plant for the liatris borer moth and the liatris flower moth.
