White pine is a large, fast-growing tree with soft, 4” needles bundled in groups of 5. It is also Michigan’s state tree! White pines provide food and shelter for a variety of wildlife; tall white pines are often used by bald eagles for nesting. White pine tar is also used in soaps and as a grip-aid for baseball players.
