Chokecherry is a tall shrub that produces clusters of small white flowers and red berries. This hardy tree grows in various conditions from woodlands to fields. Chokecherry has tremendous wildlife value, as its flowers, fruit, seeds and foliage all provide food for wildlife. Although edible for humans, its fresh fruit has a bitter taste, giving it the name “choke” cherry. However, the fruit makes delicious jams and jellies.
