Long John plum is a variety of prune-plum tree that produces white flowers in the spring and oblong, blue-purple fruit in September. Long John plum’s fruit is freestone with amber flesh. Long John plum is somewhat self-pollinating and will produce better yields when cross-pollinated with another prune-plum variety. Long John plum is resistant to bacterial spot.
