Staghorn sumac is a small tree that produces cone-like clusters of greenish yellow flowers and fuzzy, red fruit. Its flowers attract bees in the spring and its fruit attracts birds throughout the fall and winter. Staghorn sumac is also a larval host plant for the Spring Azure butterfly and the Luna Moth. Staghorn sumac is hardy, as it is can grow well in a variety of conditions. It can be found in woodlands, fields, and along roadsides.
