Bur Oak is a large drought-resistant tree, sporting mossy (bur) acorns in the growing season. It is very winter hardy and suffers from minimal serious insect/disease damage. Bur Oak is an important tree for wildlife, providing food for species like deer, turkey, and birds. It also provides habitat to the larvae of Imperial moths, Duskywings and multiple species of hairstreaks.
