The Nannyberry is an adaptable shrub that can thrive in a wide range of environments, such as woods, hillsides, and along the edges of streams and wetlands. The Nannyberry blooms from April to June and produces edible fruit in the winter that resembles grapes. The Nannyberry provides food for a wide variety of animal species, such as berries for mammals and birds as well as nectar for pollinators. It is also a host plant for the Spring Azure butterfly.
